Saltbush is seeking a dedicated and culturally aware Training and Activity Manager to join our Foundation to Future team in Alice Springs.
In this role, you will lead a small team of professional Mentors, working together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals facing employment barriers.
Location: Alice Springs Employment Type: Permanent Full-time Excellent Remuneration: $100k + 11.5% super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leave Reports To: Central Australian Operations Manager Hours: Normal business hours, with flexibility for additional hours as needed Travel: Occasional travel to other Saltbush service locations This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).

Primary Purpose of the Role: Saltbush Foundation to Future (F2F) is an initiative to provide enduring support to local Aboriginal jobseekers who require specialist engagement, employment, and career development assistance.
This role will provide direct leadership and direction to a team of trainers who are focused on this specific program of services in Alice Springs and will be accountable to the outcomes and impacts of the training and activities provided to individual participants.
Collaborating with other leadership roles and under the direction of the Saltbush Central Australian Operations Manager, you will provide daily support to the trainers and extend support to other team members as appropriate which may include program trainees.
The role is designated for a person of Aboriginal heritage to be part of the team that will be working directly for the advancement of local Aboriginal community members.
This role requires an understanding of the multiple and complex challenges faced by many local jobseekers and how Saltbush can contribute to solutions for long-term impact.
As Activity and Training Manager your role with your team is to create, develop, and deliver inspiring and innovative training modules and activities that engage, promote self-esteem and self-care, develop employability skills and a positive introduction to the world of work and self-determination.
Skills development is to be achieved through an appropriate mix of 'classroom' and on-job learning opportunities to facilitate learning by doing.
Establishing and maintaining cohesive working relationships with local service providers and employers will be required to ensure skills development is aligned to employer and industry needs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Work within the F2F Team to develop and deliver innovative workshops, activities, and training sessions using principles that engage and inspire participants towards a positive independent future of their own making through curated learning activities.
Provide practical leadership and direction to training team members, helping them identify priorities, remove performance barriers, and ensure shared accountability for program outcomes.
Assist in developing best practice systems for data capture, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and integrity.
Facilitate practical learner support to those with learning needs to achieve intended outcomes whilst reflecting Saltbush commitment to provision of culturally appropriate services.
Facilitate management of records of attendance, participation, and achievements to support data monitoring and program evaluation.
Provide support to mentors to build their capacity and confidence in facilitating skills and learning for groups and individuals.
Oversee logistics of workshops and activities to ensure suitable spaces, tools, materials, and catering are available as needed and sufficient for all participants.
Collaborate with F2F Team to engage with external stakeholders to be involved in workshops and activities relevant to learning goals.
Collaborate with F2F Team to understand and ensure learning activities contribute to individual participant plans and goals.
Work with Business Development Manager to link with, and work closely with suitable employers.
Develop positive engagement activities to create culturally safe working environments for program participants.
Collaborate with broader Saltbush team to utilise shared internal services; finance, recruitment, IT, marketing, risk, and quality management.
Maintain open and transparent communications with Saltbush leadership team to support contract management and Board reporting.
Oversee the continuous improvement of delivery to maintain person-centred learning and development.
Experience in program design, development, and evaluation to focus on individual capacity and skills and knowledge being effectively imparted to participants.
Prior experience in the development and delivery of workshops focused on delivery of soft skills and employability skills through structured but flexible learning activities.
Understanding of Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) & Digital Literacy Skills Framework (DLSF) and Core Skills for Work Framework to inform learning activities and outcomes.
Understanding of vocational competencies to inform workshop and learning outcomes for future evidence where needed.
Leadership abilities that achieve positive team engagement and alignment to purpose and impacts; willing to be held accountable for overall performance.
Confidence in verbal and written communication and presentation skills to achieve learner engagement and participation.
Capacity to develop and contextualise innovative learner materials, session plans, and facilitation guides for all activities to ensure sustainability of program delivery – including digital and paper-based resources.
Advanced skills for Microsoft Office 365 software, with capacity to learn and use other programs required for data capture and use of digital document and file management with SharePoint.
Ability to prioritise and meet timelines, with capacity to work effectively either independently or within a team as needed.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with the skills to lead and mentor staff to achieve their best.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and understanding of risk management practice and processes for a culturally appropriate delivery of services.
