Your role
The Senior Control Systems Engineer will be tasked with formulating the overall facility strategy and supervising the implementation of all preventative and reactive maintenance, as well as the commissioning and operation of new systems and controls as needed.
Your responsibilities
* Conducting evaluations of control and instrument equipment performance for integrated processes and fluid transportation throughout the facilities.
* Providing technical support to address operational and maintenance challenges.
* Developing engineering change packages and overseeing the execution of engineering change activities.
* Ensuring that technical standards are upheld.
* Leading and supporting the implementation of control and instrumentation requirements for facility projects.
* Collaborating with facility personnel to identify long-term maintenance needs and resolve operational issues, including their budgetary implications.
* Understanding the regulatory framework and design standards relevant to oil and gas operations and applying this knowledge in the role.
* Participating in HAZOP and SIL reviews as part of the responsibilities.
* Preparing key discipline documents such as control philosophies, shutdown hierarchy sketches/schemes, and Cause and Effect Matrices.
* Making occasional site visits to the Moranbah Gas Plant as needed.
Your Background and Experience
* Full Australian working rights
* Tertiary degree in Instrumentation and Controls
* 10 + years I&C experience in heavy industry with 2 + years in Oil and Gas
* Demonstrate knowledge around Functional Safety
* Design and support for Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
* Development and support of SCADA/HMI systems, including OPC communications.
* Networking expertise.
* Design and programming of PLC systems.
* Implementation of redundant controllers and I/O.
* Proficiency in serial communications.
* Design and development of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) for emergency shutdown (ESD), fire and gas (F&G), and process safeguarding applications.
* Understanding of SIL levels, voting methodologies, and redundancy architectures.
* Familiarity with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards.
* Conducting FAT, SAT, and Critical Function Testing for process and safety control systems.
* Specification and selection of process instrumentation.
* Knowledge of fire and gas detection systems.
* Experience with gas chromatographs and analysers.
* Proficient in data historian systems.
