About the Role
Based at our Newstead office, or open to candidates across Australia with relevant experience, the Principal Engineer will directly support the Chief Engineer in undertaking their role. Key responsibilities include leading and participating in engineering projects and project components that require professional engineering oversight or input.
The successful candidate will review complex engineering materials, develop complex engineering calculations, assessments, or simulations to support building engineering capability at the NHVR and improving safety and productivity in the heavy vehicle industry.
The role involves providing specialist engineering advice to the Chief Engineer and other areas of NHVR as required, on heavy vehicle safety and productivity matters. This includes supporting the delivery of complex heavy vehicle engineering projects, project components, and the resolution of technical issues in collaboration with Directors, Managers, and project staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review complex engineering materials and develop complex engineering calculations, assessments, or simulations.
* Provide specialist engineering advice to the Chief Engineer and other areas of NHVR as required.
* Support the delivery of complex heavy vehicle engineering projects, project components, and the resolution of technical issues.
* Advise on the application of heavy vehicle standards, modifications, manufacturers' specifications, and Design Rules in accordance with national and international standards.
* Provide leadership and direction to the team and contribute to their development and growth.
* Assist the Chief Engineer in ensuring that advice and engineering input to projects, initiatives, and processes is complete, accurate, and reflects best practice.
Requirements:
* 4+ years of experience as a Principal Engineer within the heavy vehicle industry.
* A Mechanical Engineer Degree & RPEQ registered.
* Demonstrated experience with Dynamics.
* Demonstrated experience in planning and managing services, projects, and tasks to establish a course of action for self and others to achieve specific objectives and deliver expected outcomes.
