The role Full Time, Ongoing Position Commencing in January 2025 MLC Banksia, located on the Banksia Peninsula in Gippsland Lakes, East Gippsland, Victoria, provides unique Education Outdoors programs on its 12 hectare coastal bushland property. The site is accessible by vehicle and offers residential housing for staff and various accommodation options for students. The Banksia team includes teachers, educational support staff, and specialist casual staff who deliver curriculum-based programs for Year 5-8 students. These programs incorporate the Gippsland Lakes, Mitchell River National Park, Buchan, and Snowy River environments to provide diverse, curriculum-based learning experiences. MLC Banksia staff also support the expedition component of the eight-week MLC Marshmead Program for Year 9 students. Some of your primary duties and responsibilities will include: Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences in collaboration with the teaching team. Build strong learning relationships with students, providing constructive feedback. Foster a culture of high expectations for all students. Use data to assess student progress and improve teaching strategies. Monitor and report on student wellbeing within the MLC Banksia structure. Collaborate with staff across campuses to enhance Education Outdoors programs. Participate in meetings, reviews, and professional learning networks. Manage specific responsibilities, including curriculum coordination and resource oversight. Adhere to safety and operational standards in Education Outdoors and maintain required safety training. Contribute to the residential community and mentor Program Assistant staff. Comply with the MLC Child Safe Program, including identifying and reporting risks and abuse indicators. About You Experience teaching primary and secondary students with VIT registration. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills. Commitment to student wellbeing and curriculum development. Dedication to sustainability and Environmental Education. Collaborative team player with positive relationship-building skills. Proficient in using technology for safety, curriculum, and innovative learning. Professionalism, confidentiality, and community involvement. Outdoor Education qualification and relevant experience in leading outdoor programs. Full driver's licence and willingness to complete required safety training. Adherence to co-curricular activities, College policies, and Child Safe Standards. Legal right to work in Australia. Desirable Criteria: Familiarity with Gippsland Lakes and surrounding environments. Experience with dinghy sailing instruction, sea kayaking, and LR/MR bus. Knowledge of the Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey element.
