The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Paediatric Cardiology is an advanced nursing role that combines clinical expertise with leadership and educational skills. The role will provide expert clinical care and be an integral part of the Paediatric Cardiology team and Monash Children’s Program. About the Paediatric Cardiology team The Paediatric General Medicine team provides inpatient care across the three Monash Children’s Hospital sites Casey, Dandenong, and Clayton – with outpatient clinics at these sites and at Pakenham. The team is responsible for the general medical care of inpatients and outpatients from newborn to 18 years of age, the General Paediatrics Team has expertise in diagnosing and treating acute medical conditions. As well as specialising in the coordination of care for complex medical conditions in collaboration with subspecialty and Allied Health teams as required. About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to to work within the Paediatric Cardiology Team. The Clinical Nurse Consultant, Paediatric Cardiology will provide a clinical resource, clinical advisory/development role, and undertake related projects and research and development activities to meet specified clinical nursing needs in the Paediatric Cardiology Services. The role will be responsible for triage, assessment, referrals, and navigation for paediatric cardiology patients specifically: Conducting comprehensive clinical assessment utilising advanced paediatric examination skills and a range of evidence-based tools and frameworks. Utilising advanced clinical assessment skills to develop treatment plans and make recommendations for collaborative, multidisciplinary care. Providing consultation for Paediatric Cardiology patients within Monash Children’s Program and the Paediatric Cardiology department. Providing clinical advice and support to PICU/NICU, Emergency Department and ward nursing and midwifery employees to facilitate appropriate care and enhance awareness of procedures and protocols. Use advanced knowledge of the current investigation, treatment, and research modalities of paediatric congenital or acquired heart disease to ensure provision of contemporary clinical care. About You Your attributes and desired experience: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Experience working in multidisciplinary teams What you need: Extensive recent and relevant clinical experience in Paediatric Cardiology demonstrating appropriate competencies and skills. Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and evidence-based practice in the provision of care for babies and children with congenital or acquired heart disease.
