The Department of Defence is seeking a high performing Director to play a pivotal role leading the Corporate Communication function for the Defence Digital Group (DDG). Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, this role requires a positive 'can do' attitude, an agile and adaptive mindset, strong leadership skills, and awareness of the political and media environment. Additionally, the Director must have the ability to positively position the Group across Defence, and externally to the Australian public and Defence Industry. The role provides a challenging and rewarding opportunity to shape the future of ICT in Defence, playing a key role in driving the Defence Transformation agenda.Requirements of the role include:
Being an effective leader with the ability to coach, develop, and manage the performance of employees within the team.Providing strategic communication planning, advice and support to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Leadership Team (SLT).Defining a strategic communication approach and plan that capitalises on opportunities for the Group, and consolidates messaging into a simple and effective narrative and campaign.Quality controlling and approving all communication product being developed and released by DDG.Managing the positioning and quality of speeches and communication on behalf of the DDG SLT.Driving the centralisation of communication effort being undertaken across DDG to ensure a consistent approach and narrative aligned to a singular capability outcome.Managing large internal and external events.Aligning and managing communication outcomes under the Defence ICT Transformation Program.Managing the design, implementation and ongoing content management of DDG internal and external communication products and channels, including the DDG intranet.About our Team
The Directorate of Digital Communication and Engagement is a high functioning multi-disciplinary communication team, winning two Defence commendations in the last 12 months. The team works primarily to support the CIO and SLT with all of their communication requirements, ensuring effective flow of information to staff. The team also manages project communication for a multitude of complex ICT projects and delivers events to support engagement with industry.We have three core priorities: building best-in-class people to support DDG's efforts, underpinned by best-in-class global platforms, supported by best-in-class sovereign capabilities.
