Our mission statement is simple but powerful: Together We Change Lives.About the roleThe Patient Service Coordinator is responsible for leadership, support and supervision of the Eumundi Wildlife Hospital, veterinary team, nursing team, leaf cutters, volunteers and trainees. This role will ensure a high standard of patient clinical care is delivered efficiently by a collaborative, cohesive team with a robust operating rhythm.
Ensure animals in direct care are nursed in an appropriate manner by ensuring they are kept clean and comfortable, medicated and fed.
Collaborate with external careers, rescuers, wildlife organisations, and members of the public, with enquiries, animal releases or animals going into care.
Ensure staff rosters are done well in advance.
Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
Conduct or facilitate performance reviews and career development plans.
Assist with staff exit and feedback management.
Promote personal and professional development for staff through regular provision of training opportunities, one on ones and other learning initiatives.
Assist with stock control and order replacement stock when necessary, liaising with Veterinary wholesalers and company representatives.
Assist in the training and teaching of employees and volunteers.
Handle disputes and complaints from clients in a diplomatic and courteous manner and forward matters of concern to the Head of Wildlife.
Sound understanding of regulatory and legislative frameworks relating to animal care and animal welfare matters.
Adhere to RSPCA Code of Conduct, Polices & Procedures and workplace health and safety regulations.
To comply with the instructions given for workplace health and safety at the workplace by the employer at the workplace.
To use personal protective equipment (PPE) where the equipment is provided by the workers employer.
Develop and maintain a workplace culture within the nursing team that reflects RSPCA Qld’s values, focusing on client satisfaction, patient care and staff satisfaction.
About youYou'll be a great communicator with top-notch interpersonal skills. If this is the right role for you, your skills and qualifications may also include:
Preferable but not mandatory that the incumbent holds (or is enrolled in) a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Australian recognised equivalent.
The ability to assist in the training and teaching of new trainee nurses.
Practice Manager experience or experience in a supervisory role.
Working knowledge of Wildlife Issues and RSPCA National Policies and Positions.
High levels of compassion and interest in animals.
Capacity to work well under pressure with limited resources.
Pragmatic approach to volunteer management.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence, and calculate figures and amounts such as dose rates.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in all communications.
Computer literate.
Excellent relationship building skills, enabling effective leadership that guides, counsels and empowers individuals and groups.
Strong aptitude for identifying and responding to problems, formulating possible solutions for discussion with management and proactively implementing change to effect positive outcomes.
Alignment and adherence to the RSPCA Qld mission, vision and people principles.
Ability to perform physical duties including manual handling, and an ability to handle a minimum weight of 10 kilos.
