The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for the full-time position of Education Officer, Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing - High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) K-12 commencing 20 January 2025. The initial appointment will be for a period of three years after which a permanent teaching position will be negotiated within the system of schools.
The role is an integral part of the work of the Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing service area as part of the Wellbeing and Student Support team (WSS) K-12. The focus is on supporting all schools across the Diocese of Wollongong in creating or maintaining a learning culture that enhances educational opportunities for high potential and gifted students, informed by literature, research and best practice.
The role will include working in collaboration with school leaders, teachers and members of the broader Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing team, particularly the Learning K-12 and the Catholic Life, Education & Mission (CLEM) teams.
The role includes the case management of identified individual students and the provision of support for schools in the development, implementation, monitoring and review of individual learning plans. The role also involves the facilitation of professional learning for teachers and leaders to ensure that the principles of high potential and gifted education are embedded in curriculum delivery and classroom practice across the diocese.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
* A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of a Catholic school within the broader evangelising mission of the Catholic Church.
* Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills with a particular capacity to inspire staff, build teacher collective efficacy and bring about change that is inspired by the CEDoW strategic goals.
* Demonstrated commitment to work in alignment with the Continuous Catholic School Improvement Framework and engage with an inquiry mindset to professionally partner with colleagues, parents and the wider school community.
* Capacity to collaborate effectively as part of a dynamic, responsive team, seeking to provide high quality, differentiated and tailored support for school communities.
* A passion for the education of high potential and gifted students, with an understanding of evidence-based holistic support.
* Demonstrated understanding of how high potential and gifted education programs and provisions can be embedded in the curriculum.
* Demonstrated knowledge of current research in high potential and gifted education and how this applies to the learning needs of students.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA:
* Evidence of formal study, or a willingness to undertake accredited postgraduate study, in High Potential and Gifted Education.
* Experience as a middle leader or above in a school or educational services setting.
* Understanding of the principles of learning as they apply to learners from K-12, as well as adult learners.
* Experience in facilitating professional learning to assist in building the capacity of teachers and leaders in high potential and gifted education.
* Willingness and initiative to access specialist knowledge and support for students and teachers in the field of high potential and gifted education.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* Accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
* Minimum 10 years teaching experience.
* Accredited to Level C in accordance with the Work, Teach and Lead Policy, or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment within CEDoW.
WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK
This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment at CEDoW.
