What is a typical day? As the Lead physician, you will be required to:
Being part of a very experienced and strong multi-disciplinary team, you will be managing a team of GPs, overseeing their work and exploring matters that may need resolving.
Working closely with the Lead Physicians, Team Managers, Central Operations Manager and client you will also be looking after the development and growth of your team and the expansion of your centre's services.
You will be joining a community of Lead Physicians within Bupa, where you will be expected to support each other and be involved in collaborative work especially when it comes to improvement of practices. You will also have the chance of working alongside other senior clinical team members with the potential to become involved in project work.
What you'll do: As the Lead physician, your duties will involve but not be limited to:
Manage Bupa private GP work within the remote service as agreed. Manage a team comprised of salaried, self-employed and locum doctors. Oversee results management by clinicians. Encourage learning and development in the doctor team also providing coaching, mentoring and support of the doctor team as appropriate. Share communications/important information with the doctor team in the most appropriate way locally. Arrange doctor meetings and circulate minutes. Support Central Operations Manager, Team Managers and admin team with clinical queries e.g. from bookings team, from customers. Work together with other clinical and non-clinical team members to develop the centre (e.g. in-house referrals) and help resolve any centre issues. Work with colleague LPs to share best practice and support colleagues in their roles. Work with the corporate management team to work collaboratively with the client. Attend quarterly review meetings and present MI to the client. Who we're looking for? GMC registered with a licence to practice and on the GP register. Substantial postgraduate experience. Previous experience as an appraiser, mentor and in some kind of leadership role. Experience in delivering high levels of customer satisfaction whilst maintaining commercial focus. Experience in managing underperformance/disagreements. Undertakes regular CPD activities in line with requirements of appraisal and revalidation.
