The role provides leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice. The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse will have expert knowledge regarding the spectrum of cancer care, inclusive of health assessment, treatment pathways, referrals, and on-going facilitation of clinical and supportive cancer care. The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse will provide collaborative clinical and supportive care for people and their families, along with the facilitation of communication across the multidisciplinary cancer care team. What You'll Be Doing The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation 2. Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty 3. Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive 4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs 5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise 6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care 7.
