The Manager Environment and Planning works in partnership with operational Portfolios to facilitate a supportive and safe environment for employees, contractors, visitors and other stakeholders.
Primary Objectives Of The Position Through the General Manager Corporate and Communities, this position will lead and develop, in consultation with key stakeholders, strategies for the delivery of environmental health, planning, local law, waste and recycling (Resource management), sustainability and regulatory services.
Manager Environment and Planning will assist Council in meeting its goals and objectives (as identified in the Council's Corporate Plan) for the social well-being of the community through the implementation of strategies for maintenance and protection of community health.
To be successful in this role you must have Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Business Administration or a related qualification or demonstrated extensive experience as a Senior Manager. Current Queensland "C" class drivers licence. Knowledge, Skills & Expertise Demonstrated management and operational experience in local government (or similar environment) particularly in the areas of compliance and legislation. Understanding of, or capability to quickly acquire knowledge in waste management (collection, disposal and recycling) and contract management. Working knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1994, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011, Planning Act 2016, Public Health Act 2005, Food Act 2006, Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, Local Government Act 2009 and Council's Local Laws. Demonstrated leadership across diverse teams. Demonstrated knowledge of or the capability to quickly acquire the professional and legislative requirements within the scope of the role. Experience in financial control and planning of operational activities. Demonstrated ability to achieve tangible outcomes in a dynamic and changing environment. Proven ability to evaluate processes and implement change in order to achieve efficiency. People Oriented Skills & Attributes Advanced communication and interpersonal skills that include the ability to lead and influence people and implement effective changes within an organisation. A genuine customer service approach with a history of proven delivery of high levels of customer service. Demonstrated awareness of economic and environmental factors within local government areas such as the Douglas Shire or similar areas. Ability to respond to changing operational environments whilst continuing to ensure a high level of service is delivered to the community.
