This position is open to all Australian CitizensAbout the GroupThe Strategic Operations Group is an enabling services function providing strategic support to the Institute. The group comprises 5 areas covering Governance, People Services, Finance, Digital Services and the new Central Australia facility (Mparntwe).About the Program AreaThe Finance, Audit, Assurance and Property Services Unit sits within the Strategic Operations Group and report to the Chief Financial Officer. The Finance, Audit, Assurance and Property Services team contributes to the operational and long-term sustainability of the Institute. The Finance Team is responsible for the financial management of AIATSIS including internal financial control, Accountable Authority Instructions and financial delegations, administrative procedures, accounts payable and receivable, asset management and external and internal budgeting and reporting. The Property and Security team is responsible for the control and coordination of the strategic, operational and security management of AIATSIS buildings and facilities. The Audit and Assurance team is responsible for risk and assurance activities, secretariat support of the Audit and Risk Committee, business continuity planning, Freedom of Information, Privacy and other Corporate Governance Policies.Role SummaryThe Chief Financial Officer plays a key role within AIATSIS' operations. Reporting directly to AIATSIS' Chief Operating Officer/Deputy CEO, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all financial management, reporting and operations of the agency as well as ensuring the financial sustainability and driving strategic financial direction. The CFO is also responsible for overseeing property services controls and operations, capital projects, security management and risk and internal audit management.The key duties of the position include:Provide strategic leadership of the financial and budget management function, including reliable and timely advice and information to the Executive, Council and relevant Committees.Lead financial management, accounting operations and financial reporting to meet the obligations under the Finance Law and Accounting Standards.Provide expert advice to staff and management on financial management matters.Provide strategic input into organisational strategy and culture as part of the management team.Support the delivery of general corporate services and contribute to other corporate priorities and functions.Manage the delivery of facilities management, security and related works to ensure proper and efficient use of facilities.Manage risk on behalf of the organisation through ensuring both business continuity and disaster management arrangements to protect the priceless and irreplaceable Collections managed by AIATSIS.Provide strategic advice and ensure that the strict physical, security and environmental requirements for the AIATSIS collections and staff are met at all times.Manage AIATSIS's response to security-related incidents and emergencies in accordance with mandated and best practice procedures.Management of compliance with government legislative requirements including risk management, business continuity, disaster recovery preparedness and prevention, privacy and freedom of information and internal and external audit.
