More About the Role at Melbourne Cricket Ground **About the team and role** The Commercial Operations & Partnerships Department is responsible for the MCC's marketing initiatives, communications, publicity, issues management, community partnerships, corporate sales, business development, advertising, merchandise and commercial arrangements with sponsors, suppliers and partners. A new unique opportunity has been created for an experienced Communications and Public Relations Advisor. Reporting to the Executive Manager (EM) - Corporate Affairs, Marketing & Community, this role's goal is to oversee the generation of favourable publicity for the Melbourne Cricket Club, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCC Foundation community partnerships, and the Australian Sports Museum to a variety of audiences utilising a combination of mass media, digital and social media channels. Key responsibilities of the Communications and Public Relations Advisor include (however not limited to): - Communications and PR support for tourism, sustainability, facilities, membership, community partnerships, Reconciliation Action Plan, Diversity and Inclusion, sponsorship and hospitality. - Co-ordinating and delivering effective and engaging publicity campaigns for owned and earned channels. - Writing and distributing media releases and statements. - Assisting with media enquiries and liaising with organisational spokespeople for comment. - Assisting senior personnel with speech writing as required. - Maintaining Language and Grammar Style Guidelines - Ensuring all fact sheets are current and regularly updated as well as generic promotional copies are written aligned to brand guidelines - Providing support for Government requests and matters. - Contributing to collaborative announcements with MCC stakeholders and partners. - Facilitating and supporting media familiarisation visits. - Collaborating with the Digital Communications team to ensure alignment of all external communications. - Providing copywriting to internal and external publications produced by the Corporate Affairs, Marketing and Community team. - Cultivating and maintaining a comprehensive list of media contacts in an online system. - Researching, writing and submitting award submissions on behalf of MCC, MCG and the Australian Sports Museum. - Utilising media monitoring methods and reporting on publicity activities. - Providing regular reports on achievements and results of activities and projects. - Developing an excellent knowledge of MCC and MCG operations, including the Australian Sports Museum. - Developing awareness of current-day issues affecting both the club and the stadium. - Leveraging promotional opportunities for the benefit of the MCC and community partners. - Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with community partners and stakeholders for positive outcomes for the MCG, MCC and the Australian Sports Museum. - Complying with MCC OH&S requirements and take reasonable care for their own safety and the safety of others, including patrons, contractors etc., who may be affected by their actions. To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of three years' employment experience in public relations, communications, and journalism or an equivalent field. A university qualification in communications, public relations, journalism, or another relevant field. It is essential you also have the following: - A background within the tourism, sport or stadium industries will be looked upon favourably. - Experience in contributing content (including video) to social media and websites. - Experience in preparing written reports. - Exceptional stakeholder relationship management. - Exceptionally high attention to detail, specifically in editing and proofing written communications. - Demonstrated ability to provide copywriting for internally produced publications. - Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and deliver an effective publicity campaign. - Strong research and writing skills. - Interest in sports and event industry is preferred.
