About South West (SW) Mental Health Service
South West Mental Health Service provides a range of specialist community, in-patient and call centre based mental health services for people living in the South West, Western Australia.
The Mental health service currently delivers an array of Programs inclusive (but not limited to) the following:
1. Acute Psychiatric inpatient unit with:

3. Regional Consultation Liaison service based in Bunbury hospital
4. Community Mental Health Clinics located in Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Manjimup:Infant, Child and Adolescent (0-16)Youth (16-18)Adult (18-65)Older Adult (65+)
5. Step-up Step-down Unit in Partnership with Richmond Wellbeing
6. Youth Severe Services, in partnership with WA Primary Health Alliance
7. Community Assessment and Support Team (CAST)
8. Mental Health Co-response team in partnership with WAPOL
9. Specialised Aboriginal Mental Health Services
10. Alcohol and Drug support services
11. Western Australia Eating Disorder consultation service
12. Lived experience workforce
The South West have also commenced developing an array of innovative service models (including Hospital in the Home, Acute Response teams, Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) and a Safe Haven Café) to help create Emergency Department diversion and assertive Community response to improve bed flow and reduce demand for inpatient beds. The investment of over $200 million Bunbury Hospital redevelopment will and see mental health services increase with an extra 7 inpatient beds, and 6 beds within the emergency department.
The SW Mental Health service is also a part of the new and exciting Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) program. RPTWA started in Feb 2023 and saw an increase in RANZCP accredited trainees from 1 to 10 in the SouthWest region. It is a world leading first of its kind dedicated end to end rural training program, supported by the Department of Health, WACHS, the Mental Health Commission and RANZCP. We have a group of passionate supervisors and enthusiastic educators to guide and develop the next wave of rural psychiatrists. We are needing to develop research for scholarly project activities and psychotherapy opportunities to meet the needs both of the service and our growing number of RANZCP trainees.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
As the Director Clinical Services Mental Health - Bunbury, you will provide line management for medical staff, working with budget holders to ensure appropriate allocation of staff to sites and services, in partnership with the mental health management team, ensure strategic development, coordination, integration and monitoring of the WACHS mental health service.
The position has a wider role in strategic service delivery and development across the 7 regions of WACHS with close links to WACHS Mental Health - Central Office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications/certifications:
13. Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia
14. Attained a Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent.
