Job Summary:
The Logistics Freight Offsider will assist drivers and warehouse staff in the safe and efficient handling, loading, and unloading of freight. The offsider will also be responsible for ensuring that goods are properly secured for transport and may be required to assist with deliveries to various locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in loading and unloading freight onto trucks or other transportation vehicles.
- Secure loads using appropriate equipment, such as ropes, straps, or chains.
- Help the driver navigate or provide directions when needed.
- Assist with deliveries, including carrying or moving freight from the truck to the delivery site.
- Perform pre-start checks on equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines during loading, unloading, and transportation.
- Assist with basic maintenance of vehicles, such as checking tire pressure or ensuring proper fluid levels.
- Report any damages or issues with freight to the driver or supervisor.
- Communicate with the logistics team regarding any delays or issues during transportation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in logistics, freight, or transport is preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads (physical fitness is essential).
- Basic knowledge of load securing techniques.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.
- Forklift or other machinery operation experience is a plus but not essential.
Work Environment:
- May involve working outdoors or in warehouses, with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Requires working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- May require long hours, including early starts or weekend shifts.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 25-30kg).
- Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
