The Role:
The NWRH 8 bed ICU is led by an Intensivist who is a Fellow of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). Clinical care is provided by fully qualified Intensivists who are fellows of the CICM with a 24/7 on-call cover arrangement. The unit possesses state-of-the-art equipment to provide advanced mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement, haemodynamic monitoring, echocardiography, ultrasound guided procedures, bronchoscopy, and other ICU therapies.
The unit is accredited by College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) for Foundation and Rural training in Intensive Care Medicine and is approved to train CICM candidates under Commonwealth-funded IRTP and TMSDT programs. We will provide you with all the required support, including readily available and approachable Specialist supervision, learning resources, and regular teaching to perform your role safely and effectively. Our teaching program includes weekly teaching and weekly CICM First Part Examination preparation sessions. Our ICU registrars are also welcome to attend the BASIC course, which we run twice per year.
Doctors who are not in a training stream (Unaccredited Registrars/Senior Residents) and wanting hands-on experience with high-acuity Intensive Care are also welcome to apply.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term full-time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight. Commencing as soon as possible for a fixed term period of 2 years.
You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata. *Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Eligibility:
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging.
* Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
