A progressive family-owned business near Elmore, VIC, is looking for a new team member to join their mixed operation The Employer Our client is a progressive, family-owned and managed business located on 1700 hectares near Elmore, Victoria. They primarily focus on growing crops such as wheat, canola, barley, lupins, and lentils. Additionally, they produce export oaten hay and run a prime lamb flock on the remaining land. The client operates with a modern fleet of machinery and is capable of conducting all property jobs themselves, except when they bring in contract balers for exporting hay production. The export oaten hay is delivered locally, 20 minutes away, with some grain stored on the farm, and most of it is delivered 16km away to storage facilities in Elmore. The operation has good infrastructure, with ongoing developments in the construction of a workshop and silos and upgrading the header. The business has a growth mindset and is willing to train suitable employees who align with its core values of growth, fairness, honesty, integrity, and excellence. The Role As farm hand you will be required to be involved in all aspects of the cropping and hay cycle which includes sowing, spreading, spraying, harvesting, operating large machinery, machinery maintenance, property maintenance including fences and water supply and general farm duties. Additionally, the operation also runs a sheep operation comprising 800 crossbred ewes, targeting the prime lamb market. You will be required to help with sheep husbandry duties. As part of the team, you will work alongside the owner and operational manager, and you will be required to perform caretaking duties while the owners are away at times. Flexible work hours are available during quiet times, but during harvest and sowing, longer work hours and some weekends will be required. The Offer The successful candidate will receive an attractive remuneration package negotiated based on attitude, aptitude and experience. It is preferable for the candidate to live locally or be willing to provide their own accommodation, as no accommodation is currently provided but can be negotiated. The property is situated 16km from Elmore, a charming town located on the banks of Campaspe River, providing all essential amenities, sports, and community events. Further down the road, approximately 45 minutes from the property, you will find the townships of Echuca and Bendigo, which provide all major services. The Ideal Candidate Ideally, you should have some experience or demonstrate a willingness and dedication to join the agricultural industry focusing on crop production.
