About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Part Time position to cover Parental Leave for 9 months, at 28 hours per fortnight within the dental department.
A Consultant Paediatric Dentist is required to provide additional inpatient and outpatient dental care to children with a broad range of medical conditions and special needs. The successful candidate will work with both the senior and junior dental registrars in the paediatric dental outpatient clinic and is expected to provide after hours on-call dental consultant support. Appropriate professional support will be provided by the senior consultant dental staff within the Department. This position is designed for paediatric dentists with experience in managing patients with complex medical needs, multidisciplinary care and dental trauma.
What you’ll achieve:
6. Planning and providing comprehensive dental care to patients in an outpatient setting.
7. Performing comprehensive dental care under general anaesthesia to patients with complex medical needs and/or trauma.
8. Supervising junior medical staff members in managing eligible inpatients and outpatients in clinics, wards and under general anesthesia.
9. Coordinate dental care in consultation with the medical or multidisciplinary team where necessary.
10. Participate in continuing education within the RCH and Department and participate in staff meetings.
11. Providing professional guidance and support for a multidisciplinary team.
Your skills and experience:
12. Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a small team
13. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
14. Proven ability to leading by example in providing the highest quality clinical care to children and young people.
15. Specialist Dental Registration with AHPRA
16. Preferably have Specialist Stream Fellowship in Paediatric Dentistry or are in the process of obtaining your fellowship would be desirable.

About the Department
The Department of Dentistry provides clinical care for children and adolescents with complex medical and dental problems which may prevent them from obtaining dental care safely elsewhere.
We provide preventive, restorative and some orthodontic services under local and general anaesthesia along with routine dental care.
