What we offer Salary packaging options up to $18,450 per annum tax free Remote allowance of $3,300 per annum (if applicable) Annual airfare allowance 6 weeks annual leave 3 weeks personal leave Relocation allowance About the role The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency is seeking a Senior Solicitor / Intermediate Solicitor – Criminal Law to join our dynamic team in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, or Alice Springs. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality legal representation and advice to our clients, with a focus on criminal law matters. What you'll be doing Represent clients in criminal court proceedings, including bail applications, pleas, trials and appeals Advise clients on criminal law matters and their legal rights and options Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and liaise with relevant stakeholders Maintain detailed and accurate case files and records Contribute to the development and implementation of NAAJA's legal strategies and policies Collaborate with the wider legal team to ensure the provision of a comprehensive and effective legal service Mentor junior staff and provide guidance and support as required What we're looking for Senior Solicitor Admission (or eligibility for admission) as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory with a minimum of 5 years post-admission experience Significant experience in criminal law, with a strong understanding of the legal system and court procedures Excellent legal research, writing and advocacy skills Ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds Strong organisational and time management skills Commitment to social justice and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Intermediate Solicitor Admission (or eligibility for admission) as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory with a minimum of 3 years post-admission experience Experience in criminal law, with a solid understanding of the legal system and court procedures Excellent legal research, writing and advocacy skills Ability to communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds Strong organisational and time management skills Commitment to social justice and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Requirements Current Driver's Licence Ability to obtain a satisfactory "Working with Children Clearance" (Ochre Card) upon commencement Satisfactory criminal history check and no history of disqualification from employment by a legal practice Ability and willingness to travel to remote areas How to apply Applicants for this position must submit a cover letter and resume addressing the essential criteria.
