Our fantastic College is looking for an energetic, organised and collaborative Assistant Farm Manager to work alongside our Farm Technical Officers and Farm Manager, managing day-to-day operations and supporting students completing accredited Certificate II and III Agriculture training. Our College delivers accredited vocational training on our mixed-enterprise commercial farm situated on 4,000ha of farmland. Enterprises include broadacre cropping, meat sheep and wool production, cattle production, farrow-to-finish piggery, and an on-site butcher shop processing meat for student consumption.
As the Assistant Farm Manager, you will be responsible for managing daily operations, including but not limited to staff and student rostering, managing staff work requirements and leave entitlements and managing the maintenance schedules for College vehicles, machinery and resources. You will also assist the Farm Manager with the development, implementation and managing of Farm budgets and strategic planning. Experience with the use of technology including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office programs and experience with data entry procedures is highly desired.
As the successful applicant, you will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, possess the skills and ability to manage and support staff, have a solutions-focussed mindset and demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve when issues arise. You will effectively build and foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have strong links with industry.
As the Assistant Farm Manager, in collaboration with Vocational Trainers and the RTO Compliance Officer, you will monitor and support students to maximise educational outcomes with their Certificate II and III Qualifications. Ideally, this person will hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, have experience in delivering vocational training and hold a relevant agricultural qualification (Certificate II or higher).

9. Hold an appropriate post-secondary qualification in management, agriculture or other relevant area;
10. Hold a Certificate IV in training and assessment or equivalent, or commit to complete the certificate within 12 months of commencement;
11. Hold a current department of education criminal record clearance prior to commencement of employment;
12. Obtain or hold a current working with children check; and share an on-call role (50-50) with the farm manager.
13. Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
14. Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
15. Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
16. Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
