Our ideal candidate will advise on the integration of Aboriginal priorities and cultural protocols right across BYFH's programs. They will work collaboratively with our management team, program coordinators, and community stakeholders to ensure our services are culturally safe and relevant.We are looking for someone who can drive Indigenous competency throughout the organisation, someone who will: Establish and lead a working groupDevelop meeting agendas and facilitate meetingsRefine and incorporate Indigenous culture into our strategic prioritiesConsider more culturally effective and appropriate programming, recruitment and support for staffDefine and create a workplace that honours Aboriginal identity and experience, and is spiritually, socially, and emotionally safe for themIncorporate Indigenous safety into all aspects of service deliveryStaff recruitment and development Maintain and enhance staff knowledge and capability about Aboriginal youth and family issues, wellbeing, justice, social work and trauma informed practiceProvide Indigenous support and direction to staff development programsAssist with the design and language in job advertisementsParticipate in recruitment panels to facilitate the selection of competent and experienced Aboriginal employeesCreate resources and workshops that develop existing and new staff Indigenous awarenessWorkplace culture and programs Work alongside external HR Advisor, review our Indigenous safety and inclusivity policies and procedures and offer recommendations for improvementsDevelop approaches to strengthen Indigenous awareness and identity across the organisationDevelop approaches through which young people can be better supported to connect with culture, country, family and languageAdvise on how to improve client participationProvide suggestions on how we can actively participate in more Aboriginal-led events in Broome and the Kullarri regionCommunication and collaboration Participate in working groups that will influence reform, enhance partnerships and create opportunities for the expansion of our programsLiaise with peak organisations to identify opportunities for collaboration across our programs and projectsParticipate in strategic planning activities and tender preparationsDeliver presentations as requiredAttend and contribute to team and staff meetingsRepresent BYFH at external meetings and forumsAdministration Collect and monitor outcomes and documentsProduce reportsCustomise employee induction handbook to include information about Indigenous protocolsContribute to the development and improvement of systems and practices that facilitate young people's access to resources and servicesIf you have questions or enquiries about this opportunity please reach out to Valerie via ****** or via mobile 0497 529 ***.
