UGL is currently looking for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to become a key member of the Power Utilities teams based in Brisbane or Sydney. You will be responsible for providing detailed designs, developing specifications and interface with other disciplines, construction, commissioning, management and clients on design issues.
The Senior Automation Engineer will build and maintain strong relationships with the inhouse construction teams and our client to effectively deliver to client expectations. This opportunity will see you join our multi-disciplined in-house engineering team working to solve complex problems throughout the project lifecycle across all known aspects of secondary system design involvement. You will:
* Plan and conduct professional engineering work on EHV/HV Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
* Provide conceptual and detail design for Control System Scope for local sites (Substation, Power Generation Plants, etc. right through to Network Operation Centers) Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Relay/IED design and integration services.
* Implement various SCADA Protocols and Communication Standards design and integration (including Modbus, DNP3, Conitel and IEC 61850)
* Design, integrate and test SCADA Communication Interfaces, automation and control logics and Data Network (LAN/WAN design, Network Switches and Terminal Servers configuration)
* Perform SCADA and Control System Testing and Commissioning for various project phases including Bench testing, Factory Acceptance testing, Site Acceptance Testing
* Provide technical support to the Business Development and Tendering as required.

About you
* Electrical Engineering Degree.
* At least 5 years’ experience in Design, integration & coordination, installation & commissioning of SCADA and Control Systems for high voltage power systems.
* Understanding and knowledge of SCADA Systems design from basic concept development through to detailed design preferably from an EHV/HV or Industrial automation system environment.
* Strong computer skills and proficiency in Visual Basic, Microsoft Office suite of software packages, Experienced in RTU/PLC configuration (Foxboro, Allen Bradly, GE, SEL, ABB, Siemens, etc.) and HMI development (Citect, ClearSCADA/GeoSCADA, Zenon, Wonderware, ABB Micro SCADA, Yukon Visual T & D, SUN Rev5/6/7, etc..)
* Proactively seek to continuously improve performance, deliverables and work efficiencies.
* Positive approach to safety.
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
* Excellent relationship building, problem solving, commercial and negotiation skills.
