6 month contract with potential to extend$40 - $43 per hour + super and salary packagingThis is an identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander PositionAlbury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS) is a proud Aboriginal-controlled community health organisation which is a member of the national Culture Care Connect (CCC) program that links 31 community-controlled suicide prevention networks.
As a result of AWAHS being invited to participate in the CCC program, we are seeking an After care, recovery and crisis support worker to provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals who have been referred following a suicide attempt or crisis and/or a mental health episode.
We seek someone who will:Deliver health education to clients and the communityParticipate in the Aftercare Services Community of PracticeProvide awareness and aftercare prevention programsDevelop community work projects and programs designed to enhance the community's ability to respond to the needs of Aboriginal peopleBuild and maintain strong referral pathways into relevant servicesProvide community health education and promotion activities and develop, organise and run programsImprove Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health and suicide prevention outcomes by providing culturally appropriate aftercare service and support Contribute to a localised service delivery model for aftercare services through a co-design approach with the local community.We require applicants to possess:Qualifications in Mental Health or Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or equivalent training or minimum two years' experience within the field A passion for supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community A strong client-focused approach, with ability to advocate effectively for clients to ensure their needs are met and positive outcomes achieved.Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks Driver's licence and willingness to complete relevant Police and WWC checksPlease feel free to call Chiquita Walsh on 0414 713 430 for a confidential discussion.Applications close: 23 March 2025AWAHS is an equal opportunity employer who is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where all individuals are valued and respected.
