We are seeking a General Counsel to play a pivotal role in supporting investments, philanthropy, property, estate planning, and broader operations. This is a unique opportunity to lead the legal, risk, and compliance function, ensuring the FO meets its regulatory and contractual obligations, mitigates risks, and fosters a strong corporate governance culture. As a trusted advisor to the CEO, Principal, and Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic insights and hands-on support across all FO initiatives. About the role This role offers the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that create a lasting impact, while working closely with inspiring leaders in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Legal Oversight : Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including NDAs, investment agreements, vendor agreements, and partnerships. Advise on legal entity structuring for asset protection, tax optimisation, and compliance. Investment Legal Due Diligence : Oversee legal reviews for investments and divestments across asset classes, managing both internal and external legal advisors to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timeliness. Risk Management & Compliance : Develop and implement risk frameworks, policies, and reporting systems to manage legal, regulatory, and operational risks. Provide compliance support across financial, employment, and data privacy laws. Employment and Human Resources : Advise on employment contracts, workplace policies, and employee-related legal matters, assisting in grievance resolution and investigations as needed. Corporate Governance : Support company officeholders in governance duties, maintain records, and ensure compliance with legal filings. Strategic Partner : Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Principal, offering insights on the legal and risk implications of key business decisions. Family Matters : Provide legal support for family-related matters, including wealth structures, tax planning, wills, trusts, and succession planning. External Advisor Management : Oversee relationships with external legal counsel and professional advisors, ensuring alignment with FO goals. Ideal background 10 years PQE, with at least 2 years in-house at a corporate, investment manager, or family office. Proven ability to build in-house legal, risk, and compliance functions from the ground up. Expertise in structuring and negotiating investment opportunities across direct, co-invest, and fund investments. Experience managing HR and employment-related legal matters. A track record of managing external legal budgets effectively.
