About the role The Group Manager – Exploration (North America) leads a small team to originate, secure and explore new exploration opportunities in North America with the aim of delivering new discoveries and/or resource growth projects that have the potential to become the next generation of Evolution mining assets. Reporting directly to the General Manager – Exploration, you will be accountable for the following: Lead and manage a regional team's exploration strategy, plans and budgets. Manage and mentor a team of exploration geologists and field assistants, creating a field-focused and engaged team environment. Rank, prioritize and select exploration areas that position Evolution for discovery of mineral resources that align with the Company's commodity focus (gold, copper-gold and copper) and deposit types in Canada and the USA. Originate new exploration (business) partnerships that facilitate access to new advanced exploration opportunities capable of delivering Evolution's ambitious future production growth goals. Initiate and lead technical evaluations of third-party exploration projects. Utilize available technical data in combination with field observations and experience to make "proceed" or "pass" recommendations to the GM, Exploration. Support Business Development with assessments of exploration potential and upside on DD targets. Maintain in good standing Evolution's exploration tenure and relationships with government authorities, operating with sensitivity and perception. Source and manage contractors and consultants required in support of the exploration programs. Report and proactively update the GM Exploration and Exploration Group functions on local activities. Be a proactive leader in identifying and reporting potential hazards and eliminating risk-taking behaviors or actions. Minimize company risk exposure and liabilities by monitoring activities to ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and licensing requirements. Lead cultural heritage management, community relations and environmental compliance across all exploration activities in North America. Lead the management of health, safety and security standards and principles, both within own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout Evolution and when interacting/engaging third parties. Demonstrate the leadership behaviors and role model the Evolution Mining values. About you To be successful in this role you are an analytical and communicative leader with an appropriate balance of business and technical acumen. You will have a University Qualification in Geology, ideally with Honours. Those with a Post-graduate qualification in economic geology are highly regarded. Furthermore, you will have the following qualifications, competencies, and experience: Minimum 10 years Exploration Geology experience. Track record of negotiating exploration partnerships and/or other third-party exploration transactions with a strong network of industry connections in North America. Experience in multiple gold mineralization styles and geological environments, including epithermal and Archaean greenstone. A clear understanding of corporate strategy at both the mine and regional scale and short- and long-term timeframes. An ability to coach, mentor, lead and inspire. Has remained current with developing trends in ore deposit model research, geological sciences, exploration techniques, technologies and industry trends. Strong mineral systems-based, process-driven understanding of a range of gold deposit styles. Passionate about geology and exploration with a strong desire to make a world-class gold discovery. Thrives in ambiguity and uncertainty, ability to make quick, well-informed judgment calls utilizing available information in combination with carefully considered intuition. Strong experience in project evaluation. Solid understanding of the economics of mineral deposits. Exceptional skills in coaching and mentoring of junior to senior level geologists. Ability to think and visualize geology in 3D. Excellent written and oral communicator. Skilled in data analysis and interpretation, demonstrating attention to relevant details. Results-oriented and proactive. Strong time management skills – aptitude in planning and problem-solving complex tasks and projects. Flexible and able to react appropriately to changing situations and new information. Commitment to Evolution's values, mission and goals. Willing to undertake frequent and short notice trips to the field and able and willing to travel internationally when required.
