Senior Communications Advisor Job Description
Talent Street are looking for a Senior Communications Advisor (A06) to join their Communications team across all areas of their business within the North Coast Region.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Communications Advisor to provide high-level communication advice and support to all areas of the business within the North Coast Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing complex stakeholder engagement strategies, managing priorities and workloads, and ensuring critical deadlines and priorities are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and implement communication and engagement activities within the North Coast Region.
* Develop and implement complex stakeholder engagement strategies that are inclusive and innovative.
* Manage the priorities, workload and deliverables for projects and ensure critical deadlines and priorities are met.
* Provide high-level communication advice and support to all areas of the business within the North Coast Region.
* Support the delivery of timely and high-quality executive correspondence, issues management, stakeholder relationship management, public affairs, and media relations.
Accountabilities
1. Lead, manage, coordinate and draft executive correspondence, community relations and community engagement for projects.
2. Develop a range of communication and engagement strategies and activities for projects within the North Coast Region.
3. Set and manage the direction for engagement strategies and look for innovative ways to engage different stakeholders.
4. Partner with key internal business units to provide strategic communications advice and solutions to meet project objectives.
5. Develop communication and engagement materials to execute over a range of internal and external channels.
6. Identify opportunities for media and develop proactive media strategies and plans.
7. Provide on-the-ground support during key communication and engagement events.
8. Monitor and identify key reputational issues and/or risks and develop responses/strategies to mitigate risks.
9. Coordinate and manage external contractors/consultant communications teams working on projects.
10. Maintain strong relationships and collaborate with project teams to support the successful delivery of communication and engagement services.
11. Navigate complex political environments while maintaining impartiality.
12. Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to.
13. Provide support, training, advice and support to regional staff and consultants to enhance communication skills.
Essential Criteria
* Minimum five years' experience in working in the stakeholder engagement space with a strong focus on the community.
* Proven ability to build strong relationships and manage a diversity of stakeholders.
* Ability to analyse problems and work collaboratively to deliver mutually agreed solutions.
* Skills in planning, organisation and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication and active listening skills.
* Capacity to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings as well as on site.
Desirable Criteria
* A tertiary qualification, preferably in communications and engagement accreditations.
* A knowledge of public sector processes and regulatory systems and how government works would be beneficial.
* Experience within the infrastructure or construction industry or similar.
* Understanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia framework and how it applies to infrastructure projects.
