The Registrations, Monitoring & Procurement Team ensures secure and reliable energy delivery to the WEM by overseeing the registration and connection of new facilities to the SWIS, managing Year 3 of the Reserve Capacity Cycle, and leading the procurement of new energy and other market services outside of the annual Certified Reserve Capacity process.
About the role
The Senior Analyst is responsible for administering and coordinating WEM registration processes, monitoring obligations of year 3 obligations for the Reserve Capacity Mechanism and supporting procurement processes of new energy and other market services.
What you will be doing
* Working with Western Power to coordinate the process of connections of new and existing facilities (upgrades) in the SWIS and ensure registration of Market Participants and their facilities are conducted in-line with the regulatory framework.
* Undertake procurement activities for Supplementary Capacity and Non-Co-optimised Essential System Services (NCESS), if procurement is required, with support from the manager and the legal team. This includes tendering, negotiations, and contract finalisation.
* Contribute to the identification, analysis and reporting of technical, operational, procurement issues and risks, and where suitable propose options for market enhancement opportunities that align with AEMO’s strategic direction and impact on operational and/or systems frameworks.
* Support and manage changes to processes, systems and documentation as a result of regulatory changes or business improvement activities. This includes acting as the business owner/product owner representative for any software changes and ensuring appropriate stakeholder communications.
* Develop high quality written reports and deliver effective presentations which communicate technical, complex concepts or data analysis to informed audiences.
* Communicate and influence technical or regulatory issues by clearly, concisely, and effectively communicating with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective stakeholder relationships. This includes contributing to external stakeholder forums and engagements with key external agencies.
What you will bring to the role
* Desirable degree in economics, computing, commerce, engineering, science or a related discipline.
* At least 5 years’ experience in a commercial or regulatory environment.
* Industry experience undertaking complex roles for the electricity sector.
* Experience in procurement (tendering and contracting), will be well regarded.
* Well-developed presentation, networking, communication and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to influence outcomes.
* Experience operating in an environment with technical documents and/or legal instruments, such as rules and regulations.
