Position: Civil Engineer/ Line Marking Estimator

Roadside Safety Solutions is a market leader in line marking, installation of guardrails, and civil construction services. Located at our Bayswater North site, we have an excellent opportunity to join our team in the permanent full-time role of civil engineer/line marking estimator.
This role reports to the Operational Manager and requires exceptional technical engineering and client communications skills, which will define performance in this business-critical role. Working in a highly collaborative environment requires high organisational and exceptional customer service skills. The duties of this role include but are not limited to:
• Manage day-to-day scheduling and planning of activity by being the first point of contact, e.g. organising and directing site labour and the delivery of construction materials, plant and equipment, and establishing detailed programs for the coordination of site activities
• Ensuring required resources and materials are available to complete orders e.g. determining construction methods, materials and quality standards, and drafting and interpreting specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods and procedures
• Approve work orders and provide information to administration for invoicing.
• Follow the internal works checklist and standard operating procedures.
• Promptly respond to customer queries to ensure continuity of business activity.
• Proactively contacting customers to check dates, and status of sites to ensure readiness for work.
• Estimating line marking services and document management for tender applications e.g. studying architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to estimate total costs, and preparing detailed cost plans and estimates as tools to assist in budgetary control
• Ensure all quality, health, safety environment, people and cost targets are met
• Providing first-class customer service to our clients by developing quotes and estimates based on your knowledge of the following:
o Australian Standards (AS1742) on traffic control devices
o Austroads Guide to Traffic Management (AGTM) – Part 10 Traffic Control and Communication Devices
o VicRoads Traffic Engineering Manual
• Develop enduring commercial relationships with clients based on reliable, efficient and accurate service where you define your work ethic reputation and become their primary contact to get projects done.
• Visit client sites for quality auditing, assessments and scoping of works including.
• Provide analysis of structural systems for both static and dynamic loads
• Provide monthly analysis and reports on wins, losses, opportunities and insights that contribute to the continuous improvement of the Road Line Marking division.
• Take on a leading role in ensuring the safety of individuals and the conservation of the environment in which we operate by sharing knowledge, working through structured processes, and reporting anomalies.
To be successful in this position, you must possess the following:
• Tertiary qualification from Civil Construction or Engineering background or relevant experience specialising in roads.
• Previous work experience is desirable.
• Holds a Construction Safety Card (White / Red Card).
• Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent communication, presentation, prioritisation, and organisation skills.
• Able to build relationships at various levels of the business and stakeholders.
