The Role
The purpose of this role is to assist in the design and formulation of all Seafood and Meat Food Safety policies, procedures and programs with industry standards and relevant rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop, implement and maintain the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements and company policies.
2. Conduct regular reviews and audits of the QMS to ensure its effectiveness and compliance.
3. Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process products and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards.
4. Lead, mentor and train the quality assurance team to ensure a high level of competency and performance.
5. Identify areas for quality improvement and implement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
6. Work closely with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming raw materials.
7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality control activities, inspections, and audits.
8. Prepare and present quality reports to senior management.
9. Ensure that all quality assurance activities adhere to safety and sanitation standards.
Key Competencies, Skills and Qualifications
10. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
11. Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance within the seafood and/or meat processing industry.
12. In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GFSI, and other relevant food safety standards and regulations.
13. Strong leadership and team management skills.
14. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
15. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
