Fire Engineer | Fire Engineering Technician The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) seeks to establish a pool of suitable Level 6 Fire Engineering Technicians and Specified Calling Level 4 Fire Engineers. This pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar at level vacancies as they arise.
Being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you placement in a position.
About the Role
DFES is seeking to employ an energetic and progressive fire engineering technician and fire engineers who can demonstrate a logical approach to the challenges of fire safety within the built environment. The successful applicant will be one that satisfies the essential job requirements, can think strategically, and shows good judgment, intelligence, and common sense.
The Fire Engineering Technician and Engineer provides professional advice, expertise and engineering guidance in all matters of structural fire safety to support and enhance the operational expertise of DFES.
The Fire Engineering Technician undertakes assessment of existing and proposed buildings and other infrastructure projects, under the guidance of the DFES Fire Engineers, whilst applying fire engineering concepts, relevant fire safety codes and other measures to ensure adequate standards of fire safety.
To be successful in this position you will need to have well developed communication skills and be able to interact confidently with colleagues and clients to deliver advice, solutions, and projects effectively. You will work with the team of fire engineers, building fire safety officers, direct brigade alarm staff and will have contact with operational firefighters and other specialist officers.

You must be an Australian Citizen or hold permanent residency to be considered for permanent appointments or hold a working visa covering the term of the contract (proof must be provided with your application) to be eligible for this position.
