The Opportunity The role: Network Engineer We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our Information Technology team. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, automating and maintaining our network infrastructure while ensuring its security, performance, and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong customer focus, demonstrating proactivity and the ability to adapt and work under pressure. With extensive IT technical knowledge and a good general understanding of IT products and solutions, you will excel in explaining procedures, determining requirements, and writing business cases and documentation. A security-first mindset in all aspects of network design and management is a must. Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for: Network Design and Management: Assisting with designing, planning, implementing, and maintaining scalable and secure network architectures. Managing and optimising on-premise and cloud network environments, including Azure and AWS. Cloud Integration and Management: Configuring and managing cloud network services, including VPCs, VPNs, and direct connect solutions in Azure and AWS. Ensuring seamless integration of on-premises and cloud network environments. Automation and Efficiency: Developing and implementing automation solutions for tasks such as firmware upgrades, configuration management, and network performance optimization. Utilising tools and scripts to streamline network operations and reduce manual efforts. Monitoring and Observability: • Deploying and maintaining network monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds, to ensure high availability and performance. • Creating and maintaining dashboards and reports to provide insights into network health and trends. • A monitoring tool focus when implementing new environments, upgrades or decommissioning activities to ensure a streamline process with monitoring, alerting and notifications Security and Compliance: • Implementing and maintaining security best practices. • Conducting regular audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Collaboration and Support: • Working closely with cross-functional teams to align network strategies with business objectives. • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for network-related issues. • Providing clear and accurate communications in a timely manner Documentation • Maintaining comprehensive documentation for the network including configurations, policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Work Health and Safety • Complying with WHS obligations and responsibilities in accordance with the requirements for this role as set out on the intranet. To be successful in this position you will have: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or AWS Certified Advanced Networking. Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ERGRP, VLANs). Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) and IaC (Terraform). Proven experience in networking (routing and switching) with a focus on Cisco (ACI) Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS cloud platforms. Experience with Firewalls (Palo Alto and Checkpoint). Experience with network monitoring and observability tools, such as SolarWinds. Experience with Load balancers (F5 and Azure traffic manager) Experience in deploying SD-WAN solutions. Experience with Cisco UCS Experience with Cisco ISE Experience with LAN / WAN protocols Experience with Cisco Wireless LAN controllers Demonstrated ability to implement and manage network security solutions. Troubleshooting, incident, problem and change management experience Strong awareness of technology trends Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
