Legal Recruitment and Secondments Specialist- APAC and EMEAOur client is looking to bring in a new senior legal counsel with a view to that person taking on the Deputy General Counsel role. This is a broad role with a regional focus and travel within the APAC region.ResponsibilitiesAdvising on legal, regulatory and compliance matters across subject areas including corporate governance, privacy and data protection, contracts, employment law, sanctions, critical infrastructure, intellectual property and information technology law and contracts.Tracking legal, regulatory, risk and compliance issues that may affect the organisation and suggesting possible options for mitigation/management.Reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts and other formal agreements.Designing, implementing and/or delivering internal legal, regulatory and compliance programs and trainings in privacy, data protection, intellectual property protection, and other topical areas.Updating and maintaining the contract management system and associated legal registers.Developing and implementing, in coordination with the General Counsel, legal operational processes and work procedures to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency of the Legal function.Providing mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues, including supporting the supervision of legal output produced by colleagues on restricted practising certificates.Providing secretariat and legal services and support to the governing board in support of the General Counsel.Supporting the General Counsel in developing, implementing and managing good practice governance policies and procedures across the organisation, in support of organisational accountability and transparency.Working with relevant managers/leaders to initiate improvements to current practices and processes.Sharing knowledge and information with less experienced team members and providing coaching and guidance where possible.Required Qualifications and SkillsMinimum of 5+ years post-qualification experience in Australia or New Zealand.Highly developed communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.Demonstrated experience within well regarded law firms, or in a sophisticated corporate environment.Technical legal accuracy, with significant experience providing practical legal advice, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, with minimal supervision.Self-motivated and committed to delivering quality services, and ability to manage a widely varying workload.Adaptable to changing needs, multiple priorities and short deadlines.Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgment, initiative, diplomacy, tact and discretion.Ability to travel internationally to attend meetings and other events as they may arise from time to time.Experience in mergers and acquisitions and understanding of insolvency law.Experience in IT-related legal matters.Speak one or more languages in the Asia Pacific region.Work experience in an Asia-Pacific professional environment.For more information or to discuss your suitability for the role, email aidan.parsons@stlegerbrockman.com.Seniority LevelMid-Senior levelEmployment TypeFull-timeJob FunctionLegalIndustriesTechnology, Information and Media
