Deputy Chair of Board - Suburban Land AgencyHudson Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, AustraliaThe SLA Board is responsible for governance, strategic advice and financial sustainability to support the delivery of the agency's vision.The ACT Government invites applications from experienced non-executive directors for the role of Deputy Chair of the Board to join in 2025. This process may also be utilised for future board appointments.The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is a visionary agency creating sustainable places where communities and environments can thrive through the smart and innovative development of affordable living, housing choices, and environmental sustainability. Its delivery program includes land for residential, commercial, industrial, mixed use and community purposes, as well as urban renewal in established town centres and suburbs.The ACT Government is seeking applicants with skills, experience and professional expertise in leadership roles gained through serving on boards or in senior executive leadership positions with a depth of expertise in one or more of the following areas:Urban design and planningSocial inclusion and community buildingAffordable/community/public housingLand-property developmentInformation TechnologyAs the current Deputy Chair plays a key leadership role in the Board and on Committees, experience in governance, financial management and being a Committee Chair would be viewed as desirable.The ACT Government supports diversity and encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, culturally diverse people and those who identify as LGBTIQ to apply to be a Board member.Board members are appointed by the Minister for up to three years, with remuneration and other entitlements determined by the ACT Remuneration Tribunal. Generally, the Board meets monthly (predominately in person in Canberra) and members may also sit on SLA's committees which meet between four and eight times a year.
