The Role
As the DevOps and Infrastructure Lead you will own the technical aspects of DevOps within the Azure and AWS ecosystems with Financial Operations (FinOps) to manage and optimise DHP's cloud infrastructure performance and costs.
You will provide governance, thought leadership and standardisation across our Azure and AWS environments, automating processes and implementing strategies to ensure efficient resource usage and cost optimisation.
Your role responsibilities will include:
1. CI/CD Pipeline Implementation
o Design, build & maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure Devops & AWS or similar tools like Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket targeting Azure & AWS as hosting platforms
o Automate testing, integration & deployment processes using tools such as Azure Pipelines
2. Infrastructure Automation
o Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep (Azure) and Cloudformation (AWS)
o Automate & manage Azure & AWS services e.g. AD, VMs, AKS, App Services, Lambda, Cloudfront, WAF, App Gateway, APIM for scalability & reliability
3. Cloud Infrastructure Management
o Deploy & monitor AWS & Azure services to meet high availability & disaster recovery requirements
o Implement Azure Monitor, Log Analytics & Application Insights for monitoring, alerting & troubleshooting e.g. Data Dog
4. Security & Compliance
o Ensure Azure & AWS infrastructure follows best practices for security, compliance & governance
o Manage role-based access control (RBAC) and IAM in AWS, network security & encryption strategies
5. Collaborate with Digital & Development Teams
o Work closely with developers to integrate DevOps practices & ensure seamless release cycles
o Facilitate a DevOps culture by encouraging automation, lean thinking, measurement, continuous delivery, recovery & feedback loops
6. Azure & AWS Cost Management
o Identify & establish owners for cloud products & facilitate a service owner forum
o Monitor & manage cloud costs using tools like Azure Cost Management, Azure Advisor & Azure Pricing Calculator
o Provide insights & reporting on Azure & AWS spending trends & cost optimisation opportunities
7. Cost Optimisation
o Identify & implement cost-saving measures, including resource rightsizing, reserved instances, spot VMs, and scaling policies
o Collaborate with teams to design & deploy cost-efficient solutions without compromising performance.
8. Budgeting & Forecasting
o Develop cloud budgets & forecasts in collaboration with the finance team, ensuring alignment with business goals
o Monitor & analyse spending variances to ensure adherence to budget and identify areas for further cost optimisation
9. FinOps Automation
o Develop automated scripts or use tools to track and report Azure costs, budgets, and alerts for potential overspending
o Implement policies and governance to avoid budget overruns and ensure adherence to cloud financial strategies
10. Vendor Relationship Management
o Liaise with Microsoft Azure and AWS account managers to negotiate pricing, secure discounts, and leverage cloud credits.
11. Mentor and Coach IT Infrastructure Team
o Coach DHP’s corporate IT infrastructure engineers
o Develop the team’s skills in DevOps & cloud cost management
Your Experience
Tertiary Qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relevant field, combined with ITIL 4 certification and extensive experience in DevOps, particularly Azure and AWS.
You will understand DevOps methodologies and CI/CD for network automation. You will have lean agile thinking and practices and disaster planning and business continuity for network systems experience. You will have prepared quality written documentation and have extensive experience in architecting and leading DevOps implementations.
By bringing a high level of energy, self-motivation, decisiveness, initiative, flexibility, and attention to detail to G'day Group together with your naturally upbeat and open communication style will fit our cultural values. You will have a highly organised mindset, with the ability to assess the urgency of work allocated to you by various stakeholders whilst working closely with our established IT Team.
