An opportunity presents at a thriving manufacturing business in Central Victoria for a Product Development Engineer.At GE Silos, we design and manufacture steel storage silos with a range of features.Our silos are thoughtfully designed and are genuinely built to last.We are a small team of hardworking, positive, fun individuals who look forward to welcoming a new member to our team.Your main role as the Product Development Engineer is to conduct research, design and develop new products and parts as well as improve current products and parts to the required standards in a safe and efficient manner.You may liaise with a range of people including management, administration staff, other employees and contractors, engineers, farmers, agents, suppliers and other agencies on all matters relating to GE Silos products.Job Details Conduct the necessary research including design, costings, timelines and other logistics when designing new or improved productsCreate 3D models, 2D drawings, cuttings lists, CNC files, procedures and any other documentation for each product that you design or improveConduct simulations to test stresses and motions of product designsCreate a full set of drawings, cutting lists and build procedures for all current standard products and partsAlter and modify drawings, cutting lists and assembly instructions as requiredCreate and review procedures relating to the manufacturing of productsManage appropriate Intellectual Property protection activitiesWhen designing, take into account the practicality, usability, aesthetics, and marketability of the productsAssist production staff on the factory floor to build products to increase knowledge and understanding of our products and processesLead and manage projects relating to new and improved products, plant and equipment and processesAssist in completing projects managed by other staff membersProjects will include (but not be limited to) new field bins, new silos, silo walkways, no climb silos and silo monitoringPromote and maintain a positive organisational image and good community relationsProvide quality customer service to all customers at all timesPreferred selection criteria Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in drafting or engineering, preferably mechanical or structural engineeringHave some knowledge and understanding of all engineering fields including mechanical, structural, electrical and civilAbility to read, understand and create CAD drawingsProficient in the use of Solidworks and simulationCompetent in project managementExperience in research and development and testing of products and processesAbility to carry out root cause analysisDemonstrate excellent problem-solving skillsDemonstrate a good understanding of Lean Management practices and their benefitsCommitment to a challenging and continually improving working environmentCompetent computer skills and abilitiesShow a willingness to learn and work in all areas of the businessDemonstrated ability to work autonomously but also be a team player and work cooperatively with fellow employees and contractorsDemonstrated effective communication skills enabling liaison with a wide range of peopleSummary of role requirements: Looking for candidates available to work:Monday: Morning, AfternoonTuesday: Morning, AfternoonWednesday: Morning, AfternoonThursday: Morning, AfternoonFriday: Morning, AfternoonMore than 4 years of relevant work experience required for this roleWorking rights required for this roleExpected salary: $74,000 - $79,000 per year #J-18808-Ljbffr
