Job Description
Purpose
The City Laws team at Hume City Council promotes and protects safety and amenity outcomes by delivering essential animal management, illegal dumping, livestock control, and local law services to the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Detect breaches to legislation and take appropriate action in accordance with legislative powers and Council requirements.
* Respond to community complaints/concerns in a timely manner and provide accurate advice and information.
* Positively engage with community members and businesses to encourage voluntary compliance.
* Build awareness and understanding of local laws, relevant acts, and their requirements among the community.
Requirements
* Ability to interact with the public and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
* In-depth knowledge of local laws, relevant legislation, and associated procedures.
* Experience delivering regulatory outcomes within the community.
* Skills in handling animals, including domestic pets and livestock.
* Ability to lead complex investigations and provide detailed briefs of evidence.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications and Qualifications
A Certificate IV in Statutory Compliance (Government) & Animal Control and Regulation is preferred. Alternatively, substantial experience working in law enforcement and animal control/management is also acceptable.
This is a permanent full-time position with a salary range of $81k - $93k p/a + Super depending on experience.
