The role will develop and deliver advice and information on the mineral and energy resources, developing projects, exploration activity, and trends in the Northern Territory.Context StatementThe purpose of the Northern Territory Geological Survey is to attract, de-risk and support investment in resource exploration and development in the Territory and provide geoscience-based advice to government and the community.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesGather, analyse, and interpret geological and industry data to provide insights, intelligence and expert advice to Government, industry, investors and the community on the Northern Territory's exploration activity, industry trends, current developing mining projects, resource potential, and related issues, including potential land use conflicts.Develop and maintain an inventory of mineral and energy resources of the Northern Territory.Build and maintain effective networks and communicate effectively to a broad audience across a variety of channels, including local and international stakeholders across industry and Government.Contribute to the preparation of high-level advice and information to senior executive management and other stakeholders, including preparing Ministerial briefs, media briefs, speeches, reports and presentations.Contribute to the preparation and delivery of high-quality technical promotional materials and publications.Maintain currency of knowledge to ensure provision of high-quality advice and awareness of modern and emerging geoscientific and exploration concepts and technologies and the regulatory environment of the Northern Territory.As required, provide technical input and advice to assist delivery of NTGS projects, and undertake administrative duties including managing contracts, budgeting, procurement, reporting and evaluation in alignment with NTGS policies and procedures.Selection CriteriaEssentialTertiary qualification in geoscience from a recognised university.Extensive knowledge of and/or experience in the resource exploration industry.Demonstrated project management experience including design, reporting, timely delivery, and budget management.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to a technical and non-technical audience and a demonstrated ability to write and review evidence-based scientific reports.Demonstrated high level project management skills, including the ability to co-ordinate, prioritise, negotiate and liaise with private and public sector stakeholders to achieve outcomes.Demonstrated ability to show initiative and effectively prioritise and manage diverse tasks in a dynamic team environment.Demonstrated experience using spatial applications and relational databases (e.g. ArcGIS, MapInfo).DesirableExperience in geoscience data management, resource evaluation, economic/resource development, and/or investment attraction.Knowledge of the geology, mineral/energy resources and regulatory framework of the Northern Territory.For further information, visit Department of Mining and Energy and Resourcing the Territory.
