Senior Project Officer – RAP Coordinator
Level 6 | Full Time - Fixed Term, 24 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) lead the sustainable development of Western Australia’s regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food and fisheries sectors. In everything we do, we take an approach to protect, grow and innovate WA’s economy, community and environment.
Improving Aboriginal outcomes across its wide portfolio of land and sea initiatives, is a key priority for the agency. DPIRD recognises recent events have significantly impacted Aboriginal people and communities. This role will support the adoption of a whole of organisation approach in our work to support reconciliation and the empowerment of Aboriginal people.
DPIRD’s reconciliation vision is to deliver impactful reconciliation initiatives that embrace cultures and knowledge systems, create pathways to support healthy Country, and respect social values. To deliver on this vision, DPIRD will shortly be launching the next phase of its Reconciliation Action Plan.
DPIRD is looking for an experienced RAP Coordinator to work across the organisation to lead, influence, guide and support implementation of it RAP initiatives and drive internal organisational change. This is an exciting new role focused on improving policy, systems and processes that create, enhance and improve relationships, respect and opportunities with Aboriginal people, landowners, Corporations, businesses and other key Aboriginal stakeholders.
Reporting to an internal Senior Officer group, the RAP Coordinator will guide transformational organisational change, to deliver on the RAP Implementation plan and improving Aboriginal outcomes across DPIRD.
About the opportunity
There is currently one (1) fixed term, 24 -month, full-time position available for immediate filling with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.

What will your typical day look like?
As the RAP Coordinator, you will be responsible for the launch and implementation of the next phase of DPIRD’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
Placed within the Aboriginal Economic Development unit and reporting to an internal Senior Officer committee, you will work across the department to drive organisational change.
Your duties will include:
1. Coordinate delivery of RAP implementation activities across the Department
2. Drive business units to adopt change and strengthen engagement practices
3. Promote, guide, support and advise on RAP initiatives within the organisation
4. Create, maintain and improve key internal and external stakeholder relationships
5. Develop, manage, guide and support internal RAP Champion groups and other sub working groups to deliver RAP activities.
6. Monitor and report on progress and achievement associated with implementation of the RAP
7. Undertake Secretariat function to the Senior Officer Group responsible for strategic guidance and oversight of the RAP.
8. Promote the RAP its activities, progress and achievements internally and externally as necessary.

You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience working to design and deliver Reconciliation initiatives in a large organisation, with the ability to engage and influence across hierarchies and within teams. You will bring knowledge of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and Reconciliation Australia frameworks. You will be experienced in working with Aboriginal Corporations, businesses and Aboriginal people and other key stakeholders. You will have strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to provide strategic advice, deliver projects, undertake project reporting and prepare high level correspondence such as Committee document and reports.
