About the role
We are currently recruiting a Zone Substation Electrical Technician to join our Transmission South West team based ideally in Griffith.
The Zone Substation Electrical Technician is responsible for construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, inspecting, testing, and reporting the nature and condition of network assets, and the installation, commissioning, and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Construction and maintenance of Zone Substations
2. Installation, commissioning, and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment
3. Carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage Engineering Services
4. Inspecting, testing, and reporting the nature and condition of network assets to maintain quality standards
5. Accessing and using computerised systems to operate remote equipment
6. Operating plant and equipment associated with Zone Substations in a safe manner
About You
As a Zone Substation Electrical Technician, you will be able to demonstrate practical application of the qualifications for this role. You will be capable of undertaking the coordination/management of construction and maintenance of Zone Substations and the installation, commissioning, and testing of Zone Substation equipment. This position will involve travel and willingness to work away.
Required Qualifications/Skills
1. Trade qualified Electrician with a current electrical licence
2. Diploma in ESI Power Systems with preferred electives in Testing Systems (desirable)
3. High voltage, transmission or power systems experience (desirable)
4. Ability to work effectively within a team environment
5. Basic skills in computer operations
6. Sound communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate electronically in writing and liaise with stakeholders and customers in an amicable manner.
7. Willingness to travel and work away from home
