Seeking the best suited applicant to join our busy team of Health Professionals.
The purpose of the role is to perform duties which include receiving, preparing and sending specimens for analysis, computer registration of request forms, processing stores, assisting with clinical pathology duties, cleaning and other duties as directed.
This would also include the accurate and timely collection of blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
Perform efficient and timely phlebotomy duties in a safe manner.
Liaise with patients, medical and non-medical staff to ensure correct collection of specimens and efficient operation of the phlebotomy service.
Work with integrity, complying with expected ethical and behavioural standards, respecting patient confidentiality and the importance of patient results.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated ability to effectively use computerised systems, basic keyboarding skills particularly for data entry.Demonstrated operational knowledge of Clinical Pathology and Specimen Reception procedures, and medical and scientific terminology.Demonstrated knowledge of blood collection, including procedures to be followed in abnormal circumstances, and ability to show empathy, compassion and understanding towards patients.Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team without direct supervision at times.Demonstrated ability to follow instructions.Qualifications, registrations and other requirementsWhile not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded.Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.We understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed.
