About the role As an IP Network, you'll provide specialized Level 3 support for the Vocus IP MPLS and Ethernet access networks across a range of equipment types from multiple vendors.
Please note, this position works across a 24/7 support roster (on call roster).
Applicants must hold current Australian citizenship status to meet governmental criteria for NV1 Baseline Clearance, which is essential for this role.
What you'll be doing day-to-day Monitor the health and integrity of the nation-wide network and underlying infrastructure Perform lab-testing prior to live network deployment for software updates and upgrades, new equipment and product types, and interoperability concerns Participate in the 24 x 7 after hours on-call roster including field deployments during the on call period.
Safe driving practices whilst on call with the company supplied vehicle.
Prepare documentation for Provisioning, Maintenance and troubleshooting activities Configure performance parameters for Network health monitoring Analyse performance data and provide recommendations to address concerns Ongoing mentoring and training of L1/L2 staff Ensure relevant issues are escalated to Vendors, and tracked appropriately Act as Level-3 escalation point for fault escalations Providing key inputs into Planning, Implementation and Acceptance of new technology and products Identify potential network risks and create contingency plans Perform proactive maintenance to maximize network availability Liaise with Engineering and Vendor to ensure operations requirements are met.
Assume ownership of complex faults and migration activities Ensure routine, ad-hoc and emergency maintenance is scheduled and completed.
Managing and Performing Network wide platform software and hardware upgrades Liaise and assist closely with the Fibre Ops team on planned and unplanned works.
What you'll bring to this role To be successful in this role, you must have a strong knowledge with: Layer 2 Ethernet Transport, Equipment and Management Platforms MPLS Transport, Equipment and Management Platforms BGP, OSPF and other Internet related routing protocols Good knowledge of PON, VPLS, L3-VPN technologies Understanding of Nokia SAM/NFM-P Understanding of Nokia Product lines e.g.
7750, 7450, 7210 platforms Practical experience with IP Networking Quality of Service configurations for large scale carrier grade voice applications.
Demonstrable problem-solving skills in an MPLS L2 & L3-VPN multi-vendor environment.
Experience maintaining and supporting large scale ethernet aggregation networks.
Ability to configure, maintain and troubleshoot Broadband Network Gateway infrastructure.
Demonstrable reporting and written skills.
Excellent time management and organization skills.
