This role supports strategic financial decision-making and ensures compliance with legislative and government financial frameworks. Operating within the Finance and Business Services Branch, the role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external government stakeholders to support key financial activities. The position requires expertise in financial analysis, government budgeting, and reporting to deliver high-impact outcomes for the organisation. Key Responsibilities Act as a key liaison with portfolio departments and the Department of Finance on government budget estimates, funding, and financial matters. Coordinate the development and preparation of new policy proposals (NPPs), including costings, grant funding justifications, and briefings. Oversee compliance with the Central Budget Management System (CBMS) deadlines. Collaborate on the preparation of internal annual budgets aligned with organisational business plans. Support the production of annual financial statements and manage month-end financial processes. Develop and present financial analyses and management reports for senior stakeholders. Ensure external financial reporting meets regulatory and internal deadlines. Review and update financial policies, frameworks, and procedures regularly. Drive continuous business improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls. Provide guidance and training to teams, fostering collaboration across functions. Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Essential Skills & Experience Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop financial models and assess long-term financial risks. Comprehensive knowledge of legislative, financial, and administrative frameworks, with a focus on public sector compliance. Demonstrated experience in Federal Government budgeting, funding, and reporting processes. Proven ability to manage competing priorities, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality. Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications & Technical Proficiency: Tertiary qualification in Accounting (mandatory). CPA or CA certification (highly desirable). Advanced Excel capabilities and proficiency in CBMS, TechOne, and other financial systems.
