Job Description We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our infrastructure reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will be responsible for supporting and ensuring delivery of the functionality and support of the Symbio Data Networks.
As an experienced Engineer, you will participate in the configurations and expansion of our network capability, as well as exploring new technologies, and engaging in on-the-job learning, gaining practical skills and expertise in the key result areas below.
As part of this role, the incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster.
What you'll do as a Network Engineer: Provide Level 3 support to customers and other internal teams as required.
Training of new team members.
Ensuring collaboration across your team, other teams, and other Business Units.
Engaging and effectively communicating with internal stakeholders and customers to gather requirements and provide updates on projects and issues.
Responsible for the operation of the company's network, including: Delivery of all network services (Data, and other hosted services and facilities).
Configuration, operations, capacity and integration of all network infrastructure to provide the highest levels of functionality and service.
Maintain highly available environment – ensure systems are designed and implemented to enable high availability.
Ensure maintenance, upgrades and new implementations are carried out with minimal impact on business and customer operations.
Contribute to identifying and resolving technical disputes/impediments.
Responsible for low level design of Platform.
Produce engineering documentation.
Qualifications Computer Science / Engineering related degree 3 - 5 years' experience in a network engineering role in Telco/ISP/Large enterprise Strong technical knowledge of network architecture and internet protocols.
Strong experience with Cisco & configuration Strong experience in designing large Networks.
Worked with OSPF, BGP protocol and good understanding of layer 3 IP routing.
Familiarised with Layer 2 and 3 switching, spanning tree protocol.
Linux System Administration (especially automation tools Salt, Ansible) Experience in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
Networks centre experience in deployment Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Team player – good interpersonal skills.
Proven experience in systems and network design and development.
Demonstrated understanding of information processing principles and practices.
Good technical knowledge of MPLS.
Programming & scripting skills (eg.
Python) Good technical knowledge of DWDM transmission.
An understanding of VoIP concepts and technologies is highly desirable.
