About The Role As a Habit Coach at Everyday Independence, you will: Support NDIS participants in Central Adelaide Work at participant’s home or a community location (you will be required to drive to/from sessions). Support participants across all ages and stages of life. Work under the guidance of the primary therapist (Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Physiotherapist, Key Worker or Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner), you’ll play a vital part in enabling the participant to develop greater independence and work towards reaching their full potential. What does a typical Habit Coach session look like? You will be responsible for implementing the therapy plan provided by the primary therapist. Sessions will vary depending on the participant and their individual goals, as outlined in the therapy plan. Here are some examples of the types of goals you may work on with participants in your sessions: Supporting Independence: Assist a high-school-aged participant in independently accessing public transport for commuting to and from school. Promoting Healthy Habits: Support an adult participant in purchasing groceries and completing weekly meal preparation to foster healthy eating habits. Encouraging Social Engagement: Assist a 5-year-old participant in completing their after-school routine while focusing on engaging in social play activities such as turn-taking. What do you need to be successful? To work as a Habit Coach, you’ll: Be studying a university degree in Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Physiotherapy (minimum 2nd year) OR Have completed a Certificate 3 or 4 in Allied Health Assistance or an equivalent qualification, with demonstrated experience in a similar position (for example, Allied Health Assistant, disability support worker, education support assistant, etc) Not sure if your qualifications or experience are a match? You’ll also: Have consistent and ongoing availability to work. Our working hours are Monday to Friday 7am - 7pm. Be available minimum two (2) days a week to support participants during their afternoon routines (3:30pm – 6:30pm) as this is the most highly requested time for Habit Coach sessions. Be open to travel to regional/surrounding areas. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions. Demonstrate emotional intelligence and empathy. Maintain clear focus on the goals and outcomes of our participants. Act professionally and always follow company protocol. Be self-motivated, reliable and can work autonomously. Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Demonstrated passion for working within the disability sector and make a difference in people's lives. A valid Australian drivers license and access to your own vehicle. NDIS Workers Screening Check. Working with Childrens Check.
