Position Summary Balances, installs, repairs, and rotates Tyres. Assists with tyre sales when necessary. Answers member questions and makes recommendations on Tyres. Stocks tyres in the service area. Follows proper safety procedures and standards. Maintains courteous member service at all times while contributing to a smooth flow of members through the Tyre Centre.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
Locates member car in tyre centre area of lot and lists any prior body damage on service order
Drives member vehicle into install bay, onto hydraulic hoist and sets brake
Removes wheel using impact gun
Rolls wheel to mounting machine, removes tyre from wheel
Attaches new valve stem, mounts new tyre on wheel, fills tyre to appropriate air pressure
Operates automatic balance machine to get reading of proper weight and placement to balance wheel
Attaches lead weights to rims with lead weight hammer
Re-attaches wheels to auto using impact gun and hand torque wrench according to Tyre Centre procedures
Alerts manager/lead to complete 9-point check and authorise vehicle release
Parks member auto in lot and returns invoice and keys to sales desk
Performs second torque check after manager/lead on tyres installed by others
Repairs flat tyres for members
Cleans install area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping
Assists members in determining tyre needs, answers questions and makes product recommendations
Sells tyres using persuasive skills and product knowledge and rings up orders
Invoices tyre purchases and install/repair services
Loads tyres on dolly and transfers to install area
Receives accurate payment, makes change, processes credit and debit charges, gives out receipt and submits order according to proper procedures for paperwork and performance of duties
Calculated refund amount for warranty returns of tyres and auto batteries
Communicates with Tyre Centre manager, buyers, receiving department and inventory auditors regarding special orders, quantity, status, price, delivery, promotion of merchandise
Stocks tyres in sales area in accordance with Tyre Centre manager’s merchandising plan
Assists with driving member vehicle into service bay and parking member vehicle in lot after service
Cleans sales area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping
Follows all safety procedures and guidelines.
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
Phone, computer, calculator, printer, member automobile, balancer, torque wrench, dolly, mounter, impact gun, hydraulic hoist and power jack.
Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry specific skills that candidates should possess) Education/Training: High School Certificate or higher Licenses/Certifications: Certificate II in tyre Fitting/Tyre Certification Test (must pass)/Current unrestricted Driver’s Licence
Experience/Skills: Mechanical, tyre or comparable experience; Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills; Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and AS400; Problem solving and critical thinking; Basic math skills
