Sharp & Carter is proud to be exclusively partnering with one of Melbourne’s premier commercial construction businesses. This is a unique opportunity for a suitably experienced assistant accountant or bookkeeper to join a small team in a high-quality corporate environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to:
1. Assisting in ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the general ledger, via accurate journal entries, bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations
2. Preparing monthly and quarterly Business Activity Statements for all entities
3. Maintaining the fixed asset registers
4. Assisting with the annual and half yearly statutory reporting and audit for the Group, including preparing financial statements
5. Preparation of Income Tax returns for entities within the Group (shared amongst the team members of the Finance Team)
6. Preparing FBT return for the Group
7. Preparing allocated sections of the Head Office cost forecast and budget on a half-yearly basis
8. Other projects and ad hoc tasks (where time permits)
The Candidate
We are seeking expressions of interest from either Assistant Accountants who have already embarked on their accounting career but seeking a new challenge within a large corporate environment, or experienced Bookkeepers looking for a workplace that understands the challenges of juggling a career and family life (e.g. school drop off and pickups). It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as you will be dealing with multiple stakeholders throughout the Group. Strong analytical skills and ability to show initiative and think laterally in problem solving are crucial, as are advanced Excel skills.
