You should have 6-8 years of post admission experience in intellectual property and technology with a strong background in IT and privacy law, trade mark prosecution, IP advisory work and IP litigation. Sound consumer law experience, including regulated advertising, is also considered favourably.
We're looking for a self-starter with strong technical skills who is committed to delivering quality and commercially savvy client service. You should be able to work independently, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and flexibility to meet client needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to thrive in a friendly team environment.
Your Role
In this position, you will work closely with our experienced partners, focusing on:
Providing advice on a range of IP matters including: trade mark and design prosecution, brand protection, IP commercialisation, and copyright. Handling disputes and litigation, particularly in relation to trade marks, passing off, misleading or deceptive conduct, copyright, designs and confidential information. Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with IP elements, such as licensing, non-disclosure agreements and distribution agreements. Advising on and managing global IP portfolios including dealing directly with intellectual property offices and foreign agents. Drafting and filing trade mark and design applications. Providing legal counsel to clients on various IT-related matters, encompassing procurement, commercial contracts, intellectual property, privacy, and regulatory compliance. Offer expert guidance on privacy and data protection legislation. Represent clients in dispute resolution pertaining to technology-related issues. Stay updated on emerging trends and legal developments in information technology and cybersecurity law. You will also be actively involved in business development, client management, and mentoring junior staff, in addition to providing legal advice.
