We all bring our complementary passions and interests to our therapy sessions and invite you to share your passions too. Our social groups are a lot of fun and could be centred around interests such as circus, music, dance, art, Lego or even bushcraft!Our Therapy Assistants play a key role in our team in extending and increasing a child's skill development at home, school and out in the community, as well as assisting with group sessions and managing resources. However, availability in the afternoon (3:30pm onwards) is essential and applicants who are available to work Saturdays will be prioritisedMinimum three hour shifts, plus paid travel time and kilometres for travel during shiftIf currently studying, exciting opportunities to be offered a part-time/full-time role once qualified (Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Speech Pathologist)You will have:Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtainA full driver's license and access to a vehicleFirst Aid & CPR Training or willingness to obtainThe right to live and work in Australia long-termQualified with or currently completing a relevant disability or health qualification such as Occupational Therapy, Teaching, Psychology, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy, Disability Services, Community Services, or Early Childhood EducationHighly effective communication skills, including written communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated skills in teamwork and collaborative practiceStrong organisational skills and time management skills: an ability to manage a caseload and schedule independentlyA demonstrable passion for working with children and young peopleExperience with and/or familiarity with a range of disabilities or challenges such as ASD, ADHD, autism, intellectual disability, physical disabilities, mood disorders and behavioural challengesFlexibility, creativity and spontaneity - a willingness to "follow a child's lead" and have fun!Duties:Co-facilitating group therapy programs such as social skills groups, nature-based groups or school readiness groups, supported by a qualified Therapist.Providing one-on-one care, support and companionship at home, school or at any relevant location out in the community;Providing individualised learning support in the classroom to support the child to develop skills such as reading, writing, fine motor skills or behaviour;Attending Occupational Therapy sessions with the child and later implementing recommended strategies in the child's daily life to support the practice and generalisation of skills;Planning and implementing play-based learning activities to develop skills (e.g., gross motor skills, fine motor skills, emotional regulation, social skills)Supporting the child's participation in daily routines or leisure activities at home;Administration and maintenance duties such as invoicing, note-taking, bookkeeping tasks, creating resourcesTidying therapy areas, maintaining therapy equipmentGenerating content for social mediaHow To ApplyIn your application please include your CV and a maximum 1-2 page cover letter outlining why you'd be a great fit for Baobab Therapy for Kids.
