Your responsibilities will include:
The Surface Finisher is accountable to carry out assigned aircraft/aircraft component surface finishing tasks in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements and OEM manuals, as well as company procedures, standards and requirements.
* Coordinate with CoA regarding surface finisher tasks on aircraft servicings conducted by maintenance elements.
* Record all maintenance for components processed through the paint facility on AMD.
* Undertake paint touch-ups on unit vehicles as required.
* Order and control stores relevant to surface finisher tasks.
* Maintain the paint shop to a standard commensurate with current OH&S practices.
* Supervise and conduct on the job training for aircraft tradesman in surface finisher tasks.
* Maintain records for all non-aircraft tasks completed within the paint shop.
* Working with maintenance teams to ensure assigned work is carried out responsibly, safely, on time, with required resources and to required quality standards.
* Ensuring that all maintenance tasks performed are correctly entered and certified IAW relevant policies and procedures. Documenting/ certifying maintenance work performed.
* Document all unserviceabilities discovered during maintenance.
* Detect and identify defects and assist in drafting appropriate reports.
* Perform FOD checks and maintain a high level of FOD awareness during all maintenance tasks.
About you:
Pre-requisites
* Certificate III in Surface Finishing
* Minimum two years’ experience as Aircraft Surface Finisher
* Appropriate Surface Finishing trade qualifications (eg. trade papers, apprenticeship, indentures etc)
* Well developed knowledge and understanding of the requirements of DASRs
Desirable
* Substantial experience in ADF aircraft surface treatments/finishing
* Strong knowledge and understanding of the requirements of at least one of the following regulatory frameworks is essential: AMO, CASA, EASA and/ or FAA
* Substantial experience on helicopters and/or components (highly desirable)
Special Requirements:
Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
