We are looking for our key playmaker - our Store Manager - to come on board and go on the journey of helping to drive excellence in leading our team of butchers and cashiers through quality and service.You will have the full backing of one of Australia's best meat wholesalers, and the opportunity to learn more about the full supply chain that provides our quality products.South Melbourne Market is a busy and energetic work environment. Lots of foot traffic and customers, a great atmosphere, and a demographic who is happy to spend for quality.You will be reporting to the 2 Directors of the business, and you will be expected to run the retail business as if it were your own.This encompasses all day-to-day operations at the shop, including but not limited to:Recruitment, staff management, rostering, staff trainingShop presentation, staff practices and customer service standardsQuality control, hygiene practices, cleaning and organisationWindow management, stock control, ordering and presentationPrice management, specials, yields, costingsCash handling, store opening and closing practices, securityProfit and loss, setting and achievement of agreed targetsHoursIt’s expected that the Retail Shop manager will work a minimum of 40 hours per week, and if reasonable additional overtime is expected during peak periods, that they will work these hours also.The market is open for the following hours:There will also be one day of preparation required outside of the market opening hours.RemunerationAn extremely attractive, industry-leading salary is on offer, including bonuses, based on the experience and expertise of the successful candidate.Skills and experienceWe are looking for someone who has previously run a busy butcher shop, ideally dealt with many premium brands, and has experience in dealing with a wide variety of customers. You are ideally a trade-qualified butcher, with the ability to beautifully present a premium shop window, and quickly ideate and develop new product and range ideas based on customer feedback.This will be a high turnover shop with plenty of moving parts.
